Here are a few tips that will help to keep you safe while you’re on the road.

First, keep an eye out for traffic. This sounds silly, but it’s very easy for runners to get into a rhythm and forget to watch where they’re going. Wear bright clothing and remember to always keep your head up. This will also prevent you from running into signs and light poles, which happens more often than you might think.

Of all the injuries runners have to worry about, sprains are among the most common. With all the curb-hopping they do, street-runners get a lot of twisted ankles. Consider using tape or wraps if you think it will help.

Remember that wearing the proper shoes is essential to preventing foot and back injuries. Of course, with all of the different types of shoe available these days, you’ll want to do a little research before you buy. Running shoes are not optional, guys.

Finally, don’t forget to warm up. Stretch and walk for at least a few minutes before you start running. Remember that heatstroke is one of the biggest dangers runners face. Stay hydrated and don’t overdo it. Let’s roll, and hey, let’s be careful out there.
